Introducing an ethical performance improvement campaign
The book by the same name was published in 2017 by Abundant Sun’s CEO, Dr. Jude Smith Rachele. The idea behind it is that diversity management practices were working to some extent, but they, as all other things, needed to be deconstructed and then reconstructed with a strong sense of ethics, ethical leadership and democratic governance. What we’re seeing the world today is a dismantling of diversity by decimation.
In this course we will:
- Define, under the banner of social justice, what is meant by the words: diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility and belonging
- Review legally protected characteristics and what has been achieved to date
- Examine the relative strengths and weaknesses of diversitiy, equity and inclusion models and initiatives
- Highlight the difference between Rule of Law and Rule by Law, and how to ensure that diversity practices are driven by Rule of Law
- Dismantle the prevailing definition of diversity, and develop a construct of diversity that transcends identity politics, while at the same time acknowledging intergroup tensions
- Encourage a deeper examination of cultural climates and the extent to which they stand the test of democratic processes
- Develop an understanding of the importance of participatory action in democratic decision-making and cultural transformation
- Develop the leadership skills to uphold the values of democracy and justice, in life, in the community and at work
